Outback Launches Middle School Youth Board!

As the 2011/2012 school year comes to a close, we are excited to announce a unique and fun program starting in the fall for middle schoolers at the Outback!

As part of our overall effort to engage and support as much of our town’s youth as possible, our High School Student Governing Board (SGB) has decided to launch a middle school youth board (MSYB) in the upcoming year. The SGB’s mission is to represent and promote the outback by coordinating social, community service and enrichment opportunities for all New Canaan teens.

The MSYB’s mission is to generate and develop ideas for social engagement , community service opportunities and enrichment activities for New Canaan Middle Schoolers.

We are looking for leaders who:

*Have a positive, “can do” attitude and are willing to work with others
*Are willing to speak out about what’s “cool” and “in” to generate event ideas
*Have the ability to reach out and engage various groups of middle schoolers
*Will help generate interest and promote events to middle schoolers
*Can attend regular meetings at the Outback
*Participate in community service events
