Outback Chill Time

Here at the Outback we provide Chill Time for all our campers. Spend time making new friends, relaxing, playing games and watching movies! We will have ping pong and pool tables, as well as fun board games. Snacks will be provided and structured/ planned activities for the kids daily.

Studio and Production 1 Camp

This is where students will be creating and writing their own original song or remix. They will receive a prepared “kit” to use in the studio including music instruments and materials to help develop their finalized product, a complete track in a format of their choosing i.e CD. Classes will meet weekly with a morning and afternoon option.

Advanced Beatmaking

For those participants who want to take it to the next level, advanced beatmaking will help set them up with the software, soundbanks, digital instruments, and controllers that they need to progress. Advanced sampling techniques will be explored as well as the inclusion of organic instruments into digital beats.

Cooking Camp

The Kiddie Kitchen is teaming up with the New Canaan Outback!  We will be offering a Summer Cooking Camp with all new Menu’s. We will be cooking dishes from all around the globe! The classes will run from June 30th till August 21st so get ready! It will be a delicious blast that your kids will enjoy.

This year, cooking class will include ingredients for all menus, cooking tools, an apron and chef hat for each summer culinary student! We give the students a true culinary school experience. Menus are all new and created to expand the pallet and creativity of your up and coming chefs!

They will meet weekly Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM. This is a great opportunity to expand your taste buds and meet new people!

The Creative Express Art Camp

Let out your inner artist in classes designed for budding artists of all ages! Explore various materials and techniques – including paper bead-making, collage techniques, pen-and-ink drawing  – to create original art work and theme projects. Make art inspired by music, poetry or your favorite movies! Design jewelry, frames or treasure boxes, etc. for yourself or to give as gifts.  

Whatever you choose, CREATE, IMAGINE and EXPRESS yourself! 

 

 We will meet weekly Monday through Thursday with a morning class option and an afternoon class option.

Jumpstart Your Vocabulary in Chyten’s 5 Session Class

for Middle School Students

In 5, 90 minute classes, you’ll learn to understand and assemble word roots, prefixes and suffixes to create meaning. The words we speak and read every day are meaningless without context. Learn to use new vocabulary strategies and your ability to figure out new words will really take off. Great for middle school students who want to advance their vocabulary for school and in anticipation of future tests like the SAT (old and new!) and the ACT. Students will know how to define words in context in a few short days with fun exercises, puzzles and diagrams.
Class is every day for 90 minutes and offered during August 11-15 from 9am to 10:30am.

S4 Study Skills

Skills for School, Tools for Life

A 5-session 7.5 hour program that will teach your student how to use and apply evidence-based strategies, systems and study skills, for time management, organization, and effective and efficient studying. S4 provides all materials for workshop use and

at-home support.

DJ Class Outback

Are you a music lover? Are you interested in all the latest songs? Have you seen a DJ mix music and wonder how they put that all together? If you are interested in music and electronics, DJing is something you should try. DJ’s know tons of music as well as how to mix, blend and create new songs. You can learn the basics of DJing in two weeks. We will learn about all sorts of cool functions such as crossfading tracks and you will learn things like creating your own remixes which most people don’t know how to do! You’ll get a cool new taste of music for something you will be able to do by yourself at home!

Fashion Lab

 

Summer Day: Design a summer top using techniques such a embroidery and applique and create your own unique look. 

 

Beach Day: Design a beach dress for the late afternoon, when you will meet the sunset with your friends. Think white or light colors and breezy fabrics. Students will complete two garments durring class. Material list will be emailed to you a week before class.

Self Defense and Kickboxing 

Thai Kickboxing is a workout regimen that combines intense cardio with old school Thai boxer training. It is a great way to lose weight, become lean and toned, and gain self confidence. Learn self defense and have a good time! This class is fast & hard.

Canvas Painting 101 

During every class you son/daughter will create their own masterpiece, using acrylic paint. Palatable Palette provides everything necessary to paint your own masterpiece, the easels, the paint, the paintbrushes, the canvas, even the aprons and of course a snack. While your child paints through guided instruction, they sip on beverages, eat some snacks and chat with friends. At the end of the day, your children will leave with a painting that they can take home as a work of art and a reminder of an artful summer. They will complete a canvas every day.

Henna Art

The class is a hands-on-experience where children will learn how to use henna as body art. All natural henna will be used. Class will start with patterns. Then we will move to small designs. We will decorate our legs and hands. It will wash away after two weeks. All supplies included are safe for kids.
